As a community of faith, we at St Bernadette Parish welcome all to serve as ministers of music.
The Traditional Choir sings at the 9:30 a.m. liturgy on Sundays from September through June, major Holy Days as well as some special liturgies. The choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the church (September through May). The choir sings a wide range of contemporary and traditional repertoire representing all periods and cultures of music in Church tradition. Open to high school age through adult. Members should enjoy singing and be able to attend rehearsals.
This is an ensemble of singers and instrumentalists who minister at the 4:45 p.m. Saturday evening liturgy. They perform a wide range of contemporary liturgical music. Open to high school students and above. They rehearse 30 minutes before mass or as needed.
The primary function of the Resurrection choir is to sing at parish funerals. This is a beautiful way our parish shows support during the loss of a loved one. As most funerals occur in the morning, members need to be available during the day. They rehearse as needed.
Cantors are leaders of song at Mass. Central to this ministry is singing the psalm and the gospel acclamation as well as lead the congregation in hymn singing and mass parts. If you love to sing, have a strong voice, perhaps this is the ministry for you. Open to high school students and adults with an audition. Rehearse as needed.
Be part of a group of singers that lead St. Bernadette community in liturgical music at the 11:00 a.m. liturgy on Sunday. The choir will develop skills as song leaders to eventually become Cantors. Open to grade school students 5th grade through high school with an audition. Rehearsal times will be determined with the participants.
Players of strings, wind, brass, percussion and piano are invited to contribute their gifts to the music ministry.
